Good morning Heather,

I have enjoyed reading Galley Gossip (on Gadling.com) this morning. I start training in February for Piedmont Airlines, operating under US Airways. I have had a lot of questions and concerns and reading your blog has answered quite a few. Thanks for the honesty and keep writing. You have a new fan in me.

Dear Alison,

Thank you for the kind words and congratulations on the new job! You’re going to love being a flight attendant. Training can be exhausting and stressful, but don’t give up. I think every flight attendant I’ve ever met had either thought about quitting during training or right after training during their first few months on the line. Not only is it a different type of job, it’s a different way of life. This can take some getting used to for you and family and friends. But in the end it will be worth it. Good luck. Keep in touch.     I concur with Allison. Heather your post are very interesting and have actually given me the motivation I needed. You see, I was supposed to go to flight attendant training this past August with Atlantic Southest Airlines (Delta Connection). However, due to the economy my training was cancled and I was put on their waitlist for future training. I have a 17 month old and I was feeling that being away would be too tough on her. That is until I found your blog. Now, I am so ecstatic and cannot wait for my phone to ring and hear that training has resumed!
    I do have two questions for you…
    What did you mean when you said “crews will go illegal” in your “A question about being a flight attendant on reserve” post?
    Also, what advice, encouragement or insight do you have for a flight attendant who will be on reserve for the next 2 years with a regional airline whom is a mom. I mean, I know you only have a few months with a regional airline but I chose them because AirTran said I would be gone for 6 days at a time while ASA said 3 or 4 days at a time. Being on reserve should I relocate my family to ATL to be with me or do you think it will be realistic to be like you and have them live in Florida while I am in ATL?
