When I first started flying thirteen years ago I wore a red and blue silk scarf tied in a knot around my neck. Oh how I loved that scarf. (And my white button down blouse I wore slightly opened at the neck, a flight attendant no-no!) Had no idea just how much I loved the silky thing until we were no longer allowed to wear it. Every flight attendant I know still talks about it with fondness. Even my friend Cady has been known to bring up the scarf from time to time whenever we’re catching up on the phone about kids, husbands, what we are going to cook, but would rather not cook (in general) for lunch or dinner, before going over why she ever quit flying in the first place. And she quit over two years ago! But that’s another story. This story is about the scarf. Man I wish I still had that scarf. So does Cady. Have no idea what happened to it. Neither does Cady. But it’s amazing how just a small piece of silky fabric made me feel – stylish and feminine and sexy all at the same time. Trust me, that is no easy feat when you’re wearing polyester!
So just imagine my surprise when I stumbled across the gorgeous photos above (and below). They were posted on a very cool website – Style Notebook, a website I’ll be visiting often. If there’s one thing I look for in a blog besides all things travel related, beautiful photography, and anything and everything that has to do with flight attendants, its style. I don’t have any. Very sad, I know. Which is why when I stumbled across the website I couldn’t stop reading – er…staring – at all the amazing photos as I scrolled and scrolled and scrolled, dreaming about my long lost scarf…
