This photograph was taken by Hyougushi from Osaka International Airport. It’s not hard to figure out why I like it. Since 1995 I’ve spent most of my 4th July’s in the air – working, so it’s going to be nice to spend this one on the ground – not working. Although there’s nothing like coming in for a landing into NYC when the Captain makes the announcement we’ve all been waiting for, the one about about the spectacular fireworks display happening on the ground below us. And for just a few wonderful silent seconds, every single passenger leans over to look out the window and like that every single passenger has a smile on their face. It’s a beautiful sight – all those smiles, as well as the fireworks exploding beneath us, which looks a lot like this, only this is San Francisco not New York…
The photograph below, by Karen Walrond, AKA Chookooloonks, was taken at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Of course it reminds me of my childhood, which reminds me of home. I’m sure most of you already know, there’s no place like home, as long as there’s an airport nearby.
I had my first experience flying to New York on the 4th last night and coming in for final approach to NYC and seeing all the fireworks exploding all over. It was awesome.
Usually I have flown in the morning and have caught firework shows in the city I overnight in.
I’m glad someone else knows how awesome it is to see all the fireworks from the skies. 🙂
