Due to the amount of hate mail Angela has received, I have deleted (by her request) the letter that was once posted here. Please note that I supported everything Angela said and I’m saddened that this has happened. In place of Angela’s letter, I bring you a response from John, a good friend and fellow coworker…
First i have to say WOW! I too was very saddened to hear the amount of minorities that came out in numbers to vote for Prop 8. Then I sat down and got angry. How dare they take away something that was mine. As a gay Latin man who’s been a 21 year relationship, I’m not sure I would get married myself. But why should my government tell me that I am not entitled to marry who I love. This is no longer an issue of agreeing to marry or not. This has become an issue of taking away my civil rights as an American who pays taxes and votes. When did love become such a harsh word? Isn’t this world scary enough without us having to define who we love?
